Many people faced with serious, life-limiting or terminal illness don’t have a place to live or people to take care of them. Some of these people have been homeless throughout their lives. A larger group becomes homeless during the course of their disease, as limited resources can be overextended on medical care, and work is no longer possible because of terminal illness. Caregiver and support systems may break down as a result of the strain that serious illness puts on everyone involved.
At Namaste Hospice, we treat our patients in the place they call home — be it a house, a nursing home, or under a bridge. Our staff members and volunteers have received special training to enable them to work effectively without shelter. We will also help any patient acquire necessary resources to make him or her comfortable. Namaste never turns away a client because of inability to pay for services.
